Rafa Benitez to muscle in on Manchester City's move for David Silva when he takes Inter reins

Rafa Benitez is ready to muscle in on Manchester City's bid to sign David Silva from Valencia.[LNB]The former Liverpool manager, who could be confirmed as Inter Milan's new boss today, wants Silva to lined up with Javier Mascherano in a new-look midfield at the San Siro.[LNB]Real Madrid have also been lining up a deal for Silva for months, only for new Bernabeu boss Jose Mourinho to put the move on hold while he looks at other options such as Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.[LNB] Silva lining: Spain and Valencia star David Silva is wanted by a raft of European big guns[LNB]Silva is likely to cost about £20million and Benitez tried to sign him for Liverpool last summer before becoming exasperated when the pursuit was leaked to the Spanish press.[LNB]Together again: Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez (right) wants Javier Mascherano to join him at Inter Milan[LNB]Before joining Liverpool in 2004, Benitez was in charge at Valencia where he would have helped nurture Silva's development in the club's youth team.
