Portsmouth face battle with Turkish giants Galatasaray to sign Ball

Portsmouth face competition from Galatasaray in their bid to sign former Manchester City left-back Michael Ball. Pompey boss Paul Hart is keen to bring in free agent Ball, with Notts County also showing an interest in the 29-year-old. But Galatasaray have made contact with his agents and want him to move to Turkey. Ball has now recovered from knee surgery and is ready to return to action with a new outfit. He started his career with Everton and also played for Rangers and PSV Eindhoven. Portsmouth fans have endured seeing their team stumble to the worst start to a season in their history, with successive Premier League defeats. Pompey will be desperate for a morale-boosting win in their Carling Cup tie at Carlisle on Tuesday night.
