David Silva nominated for PFA Players' Player of the Year Award 2012

David Silva started the 2011-2012 campaign in a rich vein of form, scoring in the 1st 2 games of the season against Swansea City and Bolton Wanderers and also receiving man of the match in the 2nd game.

He then set up 2 of Sergio Aguero's goals against Wigan Athletic, winning praise from Roberto Mancini who claimed his displays were on par with Spain internationals Xavi Hernández and Andrés Iniesta and said that Silva is "One of the best players in the world".

At the end of the month Silva revealed that he turned down FC Barcelona and Real Madrid so he could sign for Manchester City and that he wants to stay at the club for years. He commented "Madrid and Barcelona are great teams, but I'm happy here and I would like to stay here for many years".

Silva's form continued in to the latter part of 2011 with his 4th goal against QPR and his 5th coming against Arsenal on December 18th.

Silva started 2012 where he left off in 2011 with assists in successive games against Liverpool, Wigan and Tottenham and most recently adding a 6th goal to his tally against West Bromwich Albion.
