Pellegrini Gets His Maths Wrong And City Suffer!

A manager not able to work out the goal difference? You're joking!

City manager Manuel Pellegrini is coming in for some stick for misunderstanding the goal difference situation in tonight’s last round of Champions League group games.

A 4-2 win would have seen City top the group, yet Pellegrini was patently unaware of this and contentedly played out the 3-2 win, and admitted as much in his post-match interview.

Later, in his press conference, he attempted to disguise the gaffe by claiming he needed to take the foot off the gas and not over-exert his players with Arsenal coming up on Saturday.

The Sky panel, with Jamie Carragher, Glenn Hoddle and Graeme Souness in studio, discussed what had gone on, and fairly ridiculed the City boss for his mathematical oversight.

Jame Carragher ruled out the possibility that something had been lost in translation, and questioned why the City press officer hadn’t informed Pellegrini about it before he blurted it out on live TV.
