Patrice Evra, the Manchester United defender, fired the openingshots ahead of Sunday's Old Trafford derby with a put-down of the bluehalf of the city. [LNB]As United and Manchester City prepare for the clash, Evra said:'City will want to show people they are the kings of Manchester butthey aren't yet. We have to make sure that doesn't happen. [LNB]'People get jealous and just want to say bad things about our clubbut we are OK. You always want to win when you're playing City in thederby.[LNB]'They are going for the Champions League. It will be difficultagainst them because they haven't lost. They are ambitious and want tostay in the top four, they've bought a lot of players and beat Arsenal4-2 so they will be going into the game with a lot of confidence. Butwe are confident because we are Manchester United.[LNB] Just good friends: Carlos Tevez (left) and Patrice Evra struck up a strong bond during the Argentine's spell at Manchester United but are now city rivals[LNB]'Over the years we have won a lot more than City and we need to makesure we do that again. We have a lot of respect for City but we are ManUnited, and every time we play City we really have to show that.'[LNB]Evra is threatening to boo his friend and former team-mate Carlos Tevez if he plays inSunday's Old Trafford derby. [LNB]The Frenchman hopes the Argentina striker will make a miraculousrecovery from a knee problem picked up on international duty last weekbut admits he was disappointed Tevez ignored his pleas to stay at OldTrafford in the summer. Clearly, hewill have little sympathy if his pal is barracked if and when he does make his first return.[LNB]Evra said: 'I was surprised he left and a little bit angry about it.He's a friend and was a great player for United and when you lose agreat player it can be difficult to accept. That's why I was surprised.[LNB]'I kept talking to him, telling him to stay here. I tried topersuade him to stay because I didn't want to lose my friend. But hemade a choice and I respect that. [LNB] Doubt: Tevez may not feature in this weekend's Manchester derby after getting injured playing an international fixture for Argentina against Paraguay[LNB]'We have been joking a bit in texts to each other. He told me theyare coming to win here. I'll wait for the reception he gets from theUnited fans but I thinkCarlito will do a great job for Manchester City. [LNB]'He's a good professional and he respected the United shirt a lot.The fans loved him. I don't know if they will boo him but, anyway, Isaid to him, 'If they boo you, I will boo as well with the fans!'[LNB]'I'm sure he doesn't want to miss this game. I think he might makeit because he's a warrior and he wants to play. He had some goodreasons to go and I told him 'goodluck'. It's not about one or two players at Manchester United.'[LNB]Two weeks ago City were looking a decent bet to spring a surprise atOld Trafford as Mark Hughes' team aim to impose themselves on theBarclays Premier League. [LNB]But United have found a little form with wins at Tottenham andBesiktas in the last five days while City's 100 per cent league and cuprecord may be threatened by injuries to Tevez and Robinho and thesuspension of another striker, Emmanuel Adebayor.[LNB] Fingers crossed: Evra hopes to line up against his good friend at Old Trafford[LNB]UEFA will await match reports from the referee and match assessorbefore deciding whether to take action against Besiktas after laserbeams were shone at the United players during Tuesday night's ChampionsLeague Group B game in Istanbul.[LNB]The win has already given United breathing space, especially as SirAlex Ferguson's team have three relatively straightforward home gamesbetween now and December.[LNB]The winning goal in Turkey came from 34-year-old Paul Scholes, whohas been tipped by his manager to prolong his Old Trafford career oncehis current contract expires at the end of this season.[LNB] Respect: Evra says Manchester United fans know that Tevez valued the red shirt[LNB]Ferguson said: 'The best time to use Scholesy is at this kind of moment, when he is fresh. [LNB]'I don't think this is his last season. Not the way he plays. He's afootball man. He isn't going to drop through the leagues. I'm sure ofit. Once you've played for United for as long as he has 20 years, forgoodness' sake what else are you going to do?[LNB]'I'm seeing the fresh Scholesy. It's September but we have to look at the whole season. [LNB]'That's why we have a squad of players. He may miss more than heplays. But if I get 25 games out of him at the level we saw atTottenham on Saturday we will be delighted with that.'[LNB] United ready to pounce as Lazio stall in contract talks with keeper MusleraAdebayor set to be banned for three matches for stamping on Van PersieUnited boss Sir Alex shrugs off Rooney rage as fiery striker loses temperUEFA could ban English clubs from Champions League over wild spendingMANCHESTER UNITED FC NEWS FROM AROSS THE WEBMANCHESTER CITY FC
