Nigelde Jong insists Manchester City cannot afford to lose against Chelsea on Saturday as his side already hassome 'catching up' to do.
TheCity defender is concerned that the Blues have opened up a seven-point gap overthem in the Barclays Premier League after just five games following their breathtaking start to the season.
DeJong has warned his team-mates they cannot afford to drop any more points andneed to win on a regular basis if they are going to challenge Chelsea for the title this season.
Hesaid: 'We'll need to be at our best to beat them and we have some catching upto do.
'Weare on eight points and they have fifteen, so there is a gap of seven pointsalready. If we win this game we will close that gap a little, which isimportant.'It is only September so anything can happen over the season. We need to wincontinuously so that we can remain in the top four. It doesn't matter who comeshere, whether it's Chelsea or a smaller team, we need to win every game.'
Citycompleted the Double over Chelsealast season and de Jong believes that will give them psychological edge.He added: 'They lost both matches against us last season, so they will becoming here to try and win, we are aware of that, but they will know we canmore than match them if we're on the top of our game.'
