Nedum Onuoha is set to follow Victor Moses in pledging his international future to Nigeria.
Sportsmail revealed how Wigan forward Moses' had decided to defect to the Super Eagles despite playing for England Under 21's.
And the Three Lions are now facing the prospect of losing another player tipped for senior honours in Onuoha - who has played 21 times for the Young Lions.
Nigeria coach Samson Siasia will meet with the Manchester City defender, who is on loan at Sunderland, in a bid to get the 24-year-old to pledge his international future to his side.
It is understood that Onuoha - who was born in Nigeria - is giving serious consideration to representing Nigeria and is leaning towards pledging his future to the African nation.
Super Eagles assistant coach Simon Kalik said: 'Onouha is a fantastic defender and very soon he and the chief coach will have a good meeting and we will start from there.
'But I am sure that he is proud to be a Nigerian and very soon he will signify his intention to join the team.'
On Moses, Kalika confirmed: 'We have called up Moses for this weekend's match against Ethiopia after we made a couple of changes in the squad.'
