Moyes challenge for Jo

Everton manager David Moyes has challenged on-loan striker Jo to prove he is worth a summer swoop during the final eight games of the season. Manchester City misfit Jo joined the Goodison Park club in January for the remainder of the campaign after failing to make his mark at Eastlands. The Brazil international, who has stated he would be happy to remain on Merseyside, has proved to be an astute signing by Moyes and has contributed three goals in six games since his arrival. Toffees boss Moyes will consider the situation at the end of the season and is keen for the striker to continue his integration into the close-knit Goodison squad. "I am still assessing the situation as far as Jo is concerned," Moyes said. Work ethic"We have another eight games to go and I will have a look at it at the end of the season. "He has made a good contribution so far with his goals, and the regular games he has played since coming here have helped because he has got fitter and better. "But I won't consider Jo's long-term situation until the end of the season. Jo needs to keep making a contribution to the team and being part of our work ethic. "We have found him a nice lad who gets on with the other players so it is a case of seeing where we are with him at the end of the season." City splashed out £19million to secure Jo's services from CSKA Moscow in the summer, but Everton would not be prepared to part with such a sum. Moyes added: "I don't have to sell any players, but neither can we afford to spend a lot of money."
