Milner: City can get much better

James Milner has warned that Manchester City have yet to hit their peak as an expensively-assembled squad continues to gel.[LNB] The former Aston Villa star was one of the summer arrivals at Eastlands, along with the likes of David Silva, Yaya Toure, Jerome Boateng and Mario Balotelli.[LNB]A spending spree of more than £100million only added to a seemingly non-stop recruitment drive since billionaire owner Sheikh Mansour arrived in the pursuit of silverware, with Wayne Rooney reportedly the next target.[LNB]City sit second in the Premier League following Sunday's 3-2 win at Blackpool and have emerged as genuine title contenders at a time when Milner thinks he and his team-mates can improve.[LNB]"The best is to come, but it's the sign of a good team when you can win and not play your best football," said the England international in the Daily Mirror.[LNB]"Obviously it takes time for a side with so many new faces to become a unit.[LNB]"We have a lot of very good players here, players who are determined to succeed. Hopefully we can keep improving as a team, keep moving forward and hopefully you'll see the best of us soon."[LNB]City take on Lech Poznan in the Europa League on Thursday and Milner hopes to continue a bright opening after taking four points from two matches to sit behind their midweek rivals on goals scored.[LNB]"We've made a fantastic start," he said. "It's still early doors with some tough games coming up, but if we can keep this run going the confidence will keep growing.[LNB]"We're all looking forward to our next game against Lech Poznan. We've got a great record at home and we're confident we can maintain that."
