The 22-year-old midfielder has suffered a nightmare run of injury problems which have seen him appear just twice, both as a substitute, since picking up an abdominal injury in September 2008. Roberto Mancini has shown faith in the Academy product, including him in his 25-man Premier League squad. And in the summer, the Urmston-born England Under-21 international was said to be just two weeks behind the rest of the squad. Having suffered hamstring trouble and a double hernia operation before developing the abdominal trouble, Johnson finally got himself fit at a similar stage of last season. City fans gave him a rousing reception when he came on as a sub in a 3-1 win over West Ham, and the following month he scored a spectacular goal after another substitute appearance in the Carling Cup against Scunthorpe. Last December he wrecked cruciate ligaments in his knee during training, bringing his season to a premature end. There were doubts about his future after such a catalogue of problems, but Johnson?s attitude over the summer and during the pre-season tour of the USA impressed Mancini. But Johnson had yet ANOTHER setback a fortnight ago when he injured a toe, and now faces a few weeks until he can get match fit. Now City are considering giving him a run-out in reserve matches to top up his fitness. Do you think a fully-fit Johnson would get in the City first team? Have your say.
