The nephew of mega-rich Manchester City owner Sheik Mansour, has confirmed he is set to follow in his uncle's footsteps and pour millions into a British football club... Bangor City! Sheik Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who recently graduated from the Bangor University with a PhD in economics, has declared he is serious about buying the Welsh minnows - also nicknamed the Citizens - becuase he wants to give something back to the people of North Wales following his stay there. 'I don't see any reason why my family wouldn't want to invest in the club,' said the 26-year-old, after returning from oil-rich Abu Dhabi to collect his doctorate last week. 'We love our football. This is something we will definitely look at in the near future.' With his family worth an estimated £500 billion, fans of the sixth-placed Welsh Premier League side, whose average attendance is 400, are already dreaming of the big-time. The University's Business School head - and Bangor City fan - Professor Phil Molyneux admitted that he personally pleaded with the Sheik to invest into his beloved local side. 'I’m trying to get him to put money in Bangor City. He’s very well off and Bangor City would do very well,' he told the Daily Post in Wales. Bangor chairman Dilwyn Jones, whose players at Farrar Road are on as little as £150 a week, is excited about the link and told The Sun: 'We'd be very happy to talk to the Sheik.' He added: 'We’re always interested in talking to businesses. If he’d like to support Bangor City FC, he’s very welcome to join us at any of our games.' The Sheik is also the honourary president of the United Arab Emirates Football Association and one of the driving forces behind December's re-vamped FIFA Club World Cup, hosted in the Gulf state, where the winner of the seven-side tournament - featuring Champions League winners Barcelona - will pocket a £10million prize fund. 'The UAE and Abu Dhabi look forward to welcoming the greatest clubs from every continent to our home,' he said. 'As hosts, our ambition is that one of its legacies will be an even greater amount of youth participation in football, inspired by the skill and athleticism of the teams and the excitement that this world-class event will bring.'
