Walsall have signed Manchester City defender Clayton McDonald on an initial month-long loan deal. The 6ft 6in centre-back, who is the son of former Saddlers striker Rodney McDonald, has progressed swiftly through City`s ranks, while also enjoying loan spells at Macclesfield and Chesterfield last term. "I can't wait to get started," said McDonald. "I'm really buzzing and want to show people what I can do." He added: "I jumped at the chance of coming here - it is an opportunity for me to gain valuable experience and really push on. There are some good lads here and I can only learn from them. "Hopefully I will do as well as my dad. He is absolutely delighted for me." The 20-year-old could make his debut in Tuesday night`s Johnstone`s Paint Trophy clash against Bury subject to clearance from the relevant bodies.
