Martinez cautious with returning players

Wigan's international stars will have to show manager Roberto Martinez they are mentally ready to face Manchester City at the DW Stadium on Sunday. Hondurans Hendry Thomas and Maynor Figueroa have returned from Central America where they have been afforded hero status after helping the country qualify for their first World Cup since 1982. Colombia striker Hugo Rodallega and Trinidad and Tobago marksman Jason Scotland have also been away on international duty and had long trips back to Wigan. And although no injuries have yet been reported, Martinez is eager to see how all react to the travelling before deciding on his starting XI. "Hugo scored, which is always a great feeling, and Maynor and Hendry have been treated like heroes nationally so they too have good feelings," said the Latics boss. "However, their energy levels are a concern and we will assess that. We have been fortunate the game is on Sunday. It is important to see how they feel. They are an honest bunch of players and it is important they feel ready."
