Mark Hughes the lure for Craig Bellamy

The Welsh forward, 29, said that he could not pass up the opportunity of again working with Mark Hughes, his former Blackburn and Wales manager. [LNB]Now with the eighth club of his career, Bellamy, who rejected claims that he threatened to strike to force a move from West Ham, is realistic about his future at City. [LNB]He said ahead of the Premier League game against Newcastle at Eastlands in which Nigel de Jong is also set to make his debut. [LNB]"I realised I would regret it if I didn't take this,'' said Bellamy. ''What happens when I see Manchester City in a year and a half's time and I see some tremendous players playing for this team and I might be playing against them and I'm thinking 'I could have been a part of this'. I couldn't live with that. [LNB]"I don't think I'll ever get away from that [my reputation]. If you tried Googling me, you know I won't get away from it. I've been involved in a few things but over the last few years I've been in a good place. [LNB]"My aim is to establish myself and hopefully hang in when these new players come up and if they need someone to clean their boots I'll be doing that as well."[LNB]Hughes said on Tuesday that he was not interested in signing Liverpool's unsettled striker, Robbie Keane, and confirmed that Robinho would face a fine after his unauthorised departure from Manchester City's training camp in Tenerife last week. [LNB]The Brazilian forward, 25, returned to the club on Monday after a week in his homeland and was immediately called into a meeting with Hughes, where he was asked to explain his actions. [LNB]There had been some suggestion that Robinho had avoided further censure but despite his status as the club's record signing, disciplinary action was inevitable and Hughes, who has also fined Elano and Jo this season, hopes the matter is now closed. [LNB]Hughes, who insisted he had given no thought to whether Robinho would captain the side in Richard Dunne's absence this evening, said: "There was a personal situation that he felt he had to resolve, but he was not given permission to leave and left without permission. It was a private conversation but my message got across. [LNB]"I've fined other players as well but nobody remembers that. At the time that the fines were given out they were justified. It's not an issue to me. [LNB]"I'm not going to go into the details of why they were fined but some things are acceptable, some are not and irrespective of what they think about that situation we have a code of conduct and if it's broken there's consequences for them as there are everybody else. [LNB]"We touched on what I expect to happen and we've moved on and drawn a line under it."[LNB]
