Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has revealed he was close to quitting the club before it was bought by Sheih Mansour a year ago.[LNB]Hughes was frustrated by the problems he encountered working under the club's former owner Thaksin Shinawatra, after joining from Blackburn in 2008.[LNB]'If you get to a point where it is untenable and not manageable, thenyou make the decision to walk away,' Hughes told The Guardian. [LNB]'I never got to that point - but Iwas close.'[LNB] Blue mood: Hughes was close to breaking point at Eastlands[LNB] Hughes said there was 'confusion and mis-communication' surrounding theclub, and that certain training facilities 'were not fit for purpose'.[LNB]'The reality wasn't exactly what was described and sold to me,' Hughes said. 'The resources weren't in place that I thought.'[LNB]Thaksin, the former Thai Prime Minister, had already had around $2 billion of assets frozen by the Thai government before purchasing City in 2007. He also faced corruption charges in his homeland, and his wife Potjaman was convicted of fraud in 2008.[LNB]Considering the off-field troubles, Hughes understandably struggled to concentrate on team affairs.[LNB]'Probably naively, I thought you could separate the two, but obviously you can't,' he said.[LNB]Garry Cook, the club's chief executive, left Nike to work at Eastlands during Shinawatra's tenure, but he also soon came to wonder if he had made the right move.[LNB]'I have made some mistakes in my life,' Cook said, 'but I deeply regretted my failure to do proper research on Thaksin.'[LNB] Eboue: My old pal Adebayor deserved ban and we haven't spoke sinceMan City will challenge Adebayor's improper conduct charge, says HughesManchester United v MANCHESTER CITY: Carlos Tevez a possibilty for derbyMANCHESTER CITY NEWS AND VIEWS FROM AROUND THE NET [LNB]  Explore more:People:MARK HUGHES
