1953: Born September 16, Santiago, Chile.1973: Signs as a professional footballer with Universidad Chile - the only club he will play for.1979: Graduates from Pontifical Catholic University as a civil engineer.1986: Retires after over 450 appearances for Universidad and 28 appearances for his country.1988: Takes over as Universidad's manager but they are relegated to the second division.1990: Joins the Chile coaching staff under Arturo Salah.1991: Becomes manager of Palestino.1992: Moves to O'Higgins.1994: Starts a two-year spell at Universidad Catolica.1998: Heads back to Palestino for a year.1999: As manager of Ecuadorian side LDU Quito he wins the national title.2001: Moves to San Lorenzo in Argentina and wins the Clausura title as well as the Copa Mercosur.2002: Moves to River Plate and wins the Clausura with them in 2003.2004: Recruited by Villarreal - his first European job.
