Mancini's Hart dilemma

Joe HartManchester City manager Roberto Mancini admits he faces a dilemma regarding Joe Hart. The Italian boss plans to hold talks with the 22-year-old goalkeeper at the end of the season once his successful loan spell with Birmingham ends. Hart, who has been ruled out of the match at Eastlands on Sunday as it is against his parent club, is enjoying an impressive campaign. However, keeping both number one Shay Given and Hart happy at City is another matter. Mancini told www.mcfc.co.uk: ?We have a very good goalkeeper at the club in Shay Given. Shay and Joe Hart are two of the best in the Premier League, and it is important to have two good goalkeepers. ?The Premier League season is long, and if you are playing in the Champions League, as well as the FA Cup and the League Cup, then you need the players - you need two top goalkeepers. ?It is important that I speak with Joe in the weeks after the Premier League finishes, then we will see about next season. He has worked very well at Birmingham and he has developed.? Such has been Hart?s good form at Birmingham he has been tipped to win a place in England?s World Cup squad. Capello England manager Fabio Capello has been monitoring his progress with both David James and Robert Green in sides at the wrong end of the table. Mancini added: ?Joe could be at the World Cup - he is a good, young, strong goalkeeper. Capello knows him very well now, and if he decides on Joe, then that is a good choice. ?I?m happy for Joe that he?s doing so well but I?m also pleased that he cannot play against us on Sunday!? Meanwhile, Alex McLeish claims Hart would be "devastated" if he has to return to Eastlands as the No.2 keeper next season. He said: "At the moment, the chances of Joe coming back next season are slim. City haven't made their mind up on the matter, but if they got into the Champions League, they might want to keep Joe. "He's a No.1 goalkeeper now and I know he wouldn't be happy sitting on the bench. "That's something, if Manchester City decide to keep Joe, that they are going to have to deal with. "Joe sees himself very much as a number one goalie now and it would probably devastate him if he has to sit on the bench next season. But he is a Manchester City player and we have to look at other options." Maik Taylor is set for a rare outing when Birmingham visit Eastlands on Sunday as Hart will be ineligible to face the Blues. What should City do with Hart? Have your say.| Submit Comments| Comments (49)| PrintWhat's this?
