The Blues boss has called on his millionaire players to accept his squad rotation policy and stop moaning whenever they don?t get into the team. And he says that to compete with United and Chelsea for top honours, the players ? the highest paid in the country ? need to realise that success comes with a squad mentality. Mancini has already moved out four unhappy players this season, with Craig Bellamy, Stevie Ireland, Nedum Onuoha and Martin Petrov all making it plain they were not happy with his managerial style. But this week Shay Given talked openly of leaving in the January transfer window and it emerged that Emmanuel Adebayor has had a disagreement with the Italian over the best way to manage his deadleg injury. Mancini  says he has sympathy with players who are not current first choice, but says that such public utterances have to stop if City want to be a major force. ?We need a mentality like they have at Chelsea or United, where the players are used to winning trophies,? he said. ?I understand the players because it is normal to be unhappy when you don?t play. ?I don?t find it frustrating as a manager because I used to play football and behaved this way myself. I understand it but it is important to change. ?If we want to win something and become a top four team, we must change this. ?It is impossible that every three days a player does an interview saying ?I don?t play.? It is important that they come and knock at my door and I will explain the situation. ?We play a match every few days and since the start of the season, every player who has been available has played.? Trophies Winning trophies goes a long way to quelling such unease  because players can then see how individual sacrifice can lead to collective glory. But Mancini reckons City need that mentality instilled in them in order to win top honours, saying: ?Other teams have a different mentality.? ?The players at top clubs play every few days and know that their manager will change the team, like I do. They must understand this.? Given?s position should ease slightly tonight as he is lined up to play his first game of the season  as long as he recovers from a toe problem. But he is set to be dropped again for Saturday?s clash with Chelsea as Mancini treats the goalkeeping position as a special case. ?The goalkeeper is a different position,? he said. ?We are lucky to have two fantastic goalkeepers but I can only choose one and can?t change that every game. ?I hope Shay stays but if he doesn?t want to stay I understand his situation. ?It is a difficult situation because in any other position you can take a decision for one game or two games and then change. But it is different for keepers.? Mancini says he is still unsure what Given will do in the January transfer window. He said: ?I don?t know if he will stay, it depends on him. I don?t want Shay to leave because he is an important player and cost us a lot of money. ?If he stays, that is OK by me, no question.? Adebayor may also return but Mancini could keep him under wraps as an impact player from the bench against Chelsea. And the manager says he has no problems with the striker, who was labelled a moaner during his Arsenal days. ?He always works well in training ? I don?t know if he was different at Arsenal,? said Mancini. The manager added that he is keen to keep Adebayor at the club and again ridiculed reports that he had a physical bust-up with the player a fortnight ago. ?It?s a farce that people said we had a fight in the dressing room or on the pitch,? he said. What do you think? Have your say.
