German international centre-back Boateng signed a five-year deal to join the Blues from Hamburg for £11m on Saturday. The 21-year-old, who has now joined up with his country?s World Cup squad in South Africa, will officially become a City player on July 1. It completes Mancini?s first piece of summer transfer business ? but he is fully aware he will have to be patient to get the rest done. A renewed push for England midfielder Milner ? for whom the Blues had a £20m bid turned down by Aston Villa two-and-a-half weeks ago ? is likely to come after the World Cup. For now, though, Mancini is pleased to have started the ball rolling on his rebuilding programme. The City boss has been linked with a host of star signings over the summer ? including Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure, Valencia?s David Silva, Liverpool striker Fernando Torres and Chelsea winger Joe Cole, who looks set to join Arsenal. Mancini himself has insisted that the Blues? shopping list is nowhere near as long as some reports have suggested, although he has seen a push to bring in Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko hit the buffers in the last week. Should City go all out to sign Milner? Have your say.| Submit Comments| Comments (47)| Printable VersionAdd A CommentEnter your comments:
