Mancini set to offer Mutu chance of Premier League redemption with City

Sacked: Mutu's Chelsea contract was terminated when it emerged the player had taken cocaine[LNB]Manchester City are interested in signing Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu, according to the player's agent.[LNB]Mutu has been linked with a move away from Florence in the winter transfer market.[LNB]'I will be in Italy for the final week of the transfer market,' the player's agent, Giovanni Becali, was quoted on www.fiorentina.it. 'There are several clubs interested in Mutu, clubs that would definitely allow him to increase his wages.[LNB]'There are clubs keen on the player from Russia, Turkey but especially England. (Roberto) Mancini strongly wants him at Manchester City and said that he would be an ideal player for his team.[LNB]'It remains to be seen if Fiorentina will be willing to talk about a possible Mutu transfer.'[LNB]The Romania international has had his troubles over the last six months as he battles against the 17million euro fine he has been ordered to pay Chelsea. [LNB]There is a glimmer of hope for the 31-year-old after the fine was temporarily suspended by the Swiss Federal Court.[LNB]Mutu, who cost the Blues £15million in 2003, was sacked a year later after he tested positive for cocaine, and was given a seven-month worldwide football ban.[LNB]After being axed by Chelsea and serving his ban, the Romanian joined Juventus in January 2005 before moving to Fiorentina at the end of the following season.
