Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher celebrated Manchester City's derby victory over Manchester United on Monday with an impromptu post-match press conference.

The 39-year-old wild man startled journalists in Manchester's press room by emerging from a side door and settling down to take lighthearted questions from reporters following City's 1-0 win.

"What do you want to know?," the famous City fan asked. "Top of the league. City are back. How about that?"

Asked what he thought about City manager Roberto Mancini, Gallagher replied: "I love Mancini. He's nearly as cool as me."

Gallagher was then greeted by City's Belgian international goalscorer Vincent Kompany, who earned a ringing endorsement from the singer-songwriter.

"He invited me to his box, scored a blinder. His family's mega, his sister's cool. Nice one bro. Vive le Belgium."
