Mancini expects Eastlands stay

Roberto Mancini expects to still be in charge at City next season despite missing out on the Champions League. The Italian, who took over from Mark Hughes in December with the specific remit to get City into the top four, will face a summer of speculation about his position. But asked whether he would be staying on as boss following the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham on Wednesday night, he smiled and said: ?I think so. ?It's disappointing because I think we played a good game, a game we had to win or we went out of the Champions League. ?I think we've had a good season because we'll play in the Europa League next year and we've improved a lot. I'm disappointed with this result, but it's football.? A host of world football's top coaches are sure to be linked with the job at Eastlands between now and the start of next season with Jose Mourinho and Rafa Benitez already mooted as names on City chairman, Khaldoon Al Mubarak's, supposed wishlist.  Mancini confirmed he had spoken with the chairman, saying: ?He's disappointed because we lost, this is normal. ?He said thank you to all the team, because for us it was a good season.?| Submit Comments| PrintWhat's this?
