Manchester City have had no contact with wantaway Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, according to manager Roberto Mancini.[LNB] City boss Mancini says he is not expecting to do any business in the January transfer window.[LNB]Asked on Wednesday if there had been contact between City and the player, Mancini said: "No. Never.[LNB]"Rooney is a great player but I think he'll stay at United," said Mancini.[LNB]"He's a good player, he's an important player for United."[LNB]However the Italian coach, whose team host Lech Poznan in the Europa League on Thursday, has indicated that he could make changes in the summer.[LNB]The City boss added: "There are a lot of players in the world, and what is important for us is to think of our players and our season.[LNB]"In the summer if there is a player who could change something for us, we could talk about this. Not January, I don't think.[LNB]"Manchester City are developing every month, every year. But every day we hear we are buying a new player and that is not good.[LNB]"It is correct that the owners have big ambitions, but everyone who works here has big ambitions for the future. At this moment we must think about Poznan and the next league game against Arsenal."[LNB]After being linked with a move for the unsettled Rooney, Mancini could find himself short of strikers against the Polish side.[LNB]Mario Balotelli remains sidelined with a knee injury, Jo has an ankle problem and Roque Santa Cruz is not on the club's Europa League list of players.[LNB]Mancini was contemplating giving Carlos Tevez a rest but will now wait until the day of the game before making a decision.[LNB]It could mean Emmanuel Adebayor being the main striker even though he looked out of sorts in the 3-2 victory against Blackpool.[LNB]Mancini was pleased with the player's contribution and said: "I was happy with Manu in our last game."[LNB]That victory took City onto the shoulders of Chelsea and into second place but Italian boss was less than pleased with his team's defending.[LNB]He said: "We must improve and recover all of our players. The season is long but it is important to be near Chelsea and the other teams.[LNB]"But we must work very hard - on Sunday we conceded two goals at Blackpool which we should not have done."[LNB]City are looking to extend their eight-match unbeaten home run in Europe while Poznan have been unpredictable.[LNB]They drew with Juventus and beat Salzburg in the competition but are now third bottom of their league.[LNB]Not that Mancini is taking anything for granted.[LNB]He said: "We must concentrate because Poznan are a good team and played very well against Juventus. If we want to win we must play very well.[LNB]"It is an important trophy and we must try to get to the final. If we win tomorrow we have a good chance to go to the next round.[LNB]"Poznan play good football. I have watched them three times and they have strong players, quick players. We must concentrate 100%."[LNB]Defender Kolo Toure will sit out the game after failing to recover from the hamstring injury that caused him to miss the Blackpool match.
