Follow Sportsmail's coverage of the Champions League group stages as Manchester United host Basle and Manchester City travel to Bayern Munich. Both sides picked up a draw in their opening group games but while Sir Alex Ferguson's men are expected to overcome the Swiss side, Roberto Mancini's team can expect a tough test at the Allianz Arena. Send me your thoughts on the action to dan.ripley@dailymail.co.uk or contact me on twitter @Ripinho.[LNB] Champions League (7.45pm)Group A [LNB]Bayern Munich 2-0 Manchester City FT[LNB]Napoli 2-0 Villarreal FT[LNB][LNB]Group C[LNB]Otelul Galati 0-1 Benfica FT[LNB]Manchester United 3-3 Basle FT[LNB]21.45: Well that's it from me here, thanks for following and remember to check back for Arsenal and Chelsea's Champions League ties tomorrow. Cheerio.[LNB]21.41: While United's topsy-turvy encounter sees them slip to third in Group C, two points behind Basle and Benfica.[LNB]21.40: So Manchester City's defeat not only gives them a wake up call as far as Europe concerned but it puts them on the back foot. They languish third in Group A three points behind Napoli.[LNB]21.37: Full-time: Manchester United 3-3 Basle[LNB]21.36: In the 95th minute United have a great chance to win it but at an acute angle Berbatov can only find the side netting. Golden rule - shoot across goal. Tsk tsk, what does ?30million actually get you these days.[LNB]21.34: Full time: Bayern Munich 2-0 Manchester City[LNB] Saviour: Young (left) snatched an equaliser for United in injury time[LNB]21.31: GOAL! MANCHESTER UNITED 3-3 Basle[LNB]They always do it don't they? Nani crosses to the back post and Ashley Young heads into the bottom corner. it's almost in United's genes to do this sort of thing.[LNB]21.30: Sorry City fans but Bayern are running the show, it's an obsession with possession from the hosts and some of the English players can maybe learn the value of keeping the ball here. Footballing lessons have been handed out.[LNB]21.28: From InfostradaLive:[LNB]Man Utd - Basel GOAL 2-3: #mufc are on the verge of losing a CL match after a 2-goal lead for the first time ever[LNB] Not happy: Dzeko (right) was fuming after being subbed[LNB]21.25: Five minutes left in Manchester, six in Munich.[LNB]21.23: Dimitar Berbatov is on for Anderson but United are hardly pressuring Basle here. It's amazing how flaky they can be without Wayne Rooney.[LNB]21.20: While City make a final change with Aleksandar Kolarov on for the ineffective Gareth Barry.[LNB]21.17: GOAL! Manchester United 2-3 BASLE[LNB]Weather conditions in hell tonight, icy with plenty of snow.[LNB]Valencia stupidly fouls Streller in the box and Alexander Frei buries his penalty into the top corner. I can't believe what I'm seeing tonight, I really can't. [LNB]21.16: PENALTY (Basle)[LNB]21.15: Schweinsteiger forces Hart to parry away again from long range as Bayern continue to boss the game.[LNB]21.13: While Samir Nasri is off for City and James Milner is on to make his Champions League debut - no petulance from the Frenchman though.[LNB] Shock: Alexander Frei celebrates his equaliser[LNB]21.11: Another change for United with Nani on for Fabio.[LNB]21.09: Sportsmail's Des Kelly:[LNB]The #MCFC bench is in revolt. Tevez looked like he refused to warm up - and Dzeko fuming at being subbed. Terrible attitude.[LNB]21.06: From OptaJoe:[LNB]13 - Years since Man Utd last failed to win a CL match after being two goals ahead at HT: 3-3 vs Barcelona in September 1998. [LNB]21.03: Park Ji-sung is on for Giggs but United still look shell-shocked.[LNB]21.01: GOAL! MANCHESTER United 2-2 BASLE[LNB]Madness has hit the Champions League. Not the fact that now both the Freis have scored but also the fact Basle have equalised. Fabian Frei delivers a cross from the right and Alexander Frei is more than happy to head it in...unmarked. Old Trafford is stunned.[LNB] Back in it: Frei volleys home Basle's first goal[LNB]21.00: GOAL! Manchester United 2-1 BASLE[LNB]Hang about we have a game on here. United fail to clear a corner and an unmarked Fabian Frei hits a sweet volley that hits the post and goes in. De Gea wasn't stopping that.[LNB]20.59: Stunned, he is fuming! Dzeko and Mancini exchange angry words as the striker trudges into the dugout. This isn't turning into a great night for City.[LNB]20.58: Now that is one puzzling change. Dzeko looks stunned as he is withdrawn to be replaced by Nigel de Jong. It certainly isn't an orthodox move, Roberto.[LNB]20.57: Sadly there doesn't seem to be any sign of City getting back into this. Bayern the more attacking side this half.[LNB]20.54: Ah, fantastic from De Gea! Marco Streller finally hits the target for Basle but at point blank range the Spaniard sticks his foot out to direct it over. World class.[LNB]20.51: Phillipp Lahm nearly turns back time when he cuts inside from the left and fires over the bar. Had that flown in that would have been a carbon copy of his opening goal of the 2006 World Cup which I think was at the Allianz Arena too.[LNB]20.48: Valencia has been David Beckhamesque with his crosses this evening. And is pinpoint accurate again when he picks out Young on the six-yard-box who buries his effort into the net. Only problem is he is offside.[LNB]20.46: Back underway at Old Trafford and in Munich.[LNB]20.44: City meanwhile have had their moments in Munich but they have ultimately been punished for ball watching. School boy errors really.[LNB]20.41: Strange game at Old Trafford. United are cruising and have been for most of the match but Basle have wasted three excellent opportunities to score.[LNB]20.37: As it's Champions League night, I feel it's worth looking at the alarming plight of two time winners Nottingham Forest.[LNB]In the Championship, they are 4-0 down at Burnley at half-time. Can it really get any worse for Schteve McClaren?[LNB] Long way back: Gomez (left) celebrates doubling Bayern Munich's lead[LNB]20.33: Half-time: Manchester United 2-0 Basle[LNB]Half-time: Bayern Munich 2-0 Basle[LNB]20.31: GOAL! BAYERN MUNICH 2-0 Manchester City[LNB]From little acorns do big trees grow. Dzeko's needless foul on the leads to a free-kick on the left wing.[LNB]Daniel van Buyten heads Toni Kroos's cross towards the near post but despite a top save from Hart, Mario Gomez is again first to the rebound to double his tally.[LNB]20.30: Slightly desperate from Ribery who tries to claim a penalty by barging straight into Vincent Kompany. Someone should tell him kicking the ball away, closing your eyes and running directly into your opponent does not constitute a foul.[LNB]20.27: While five minutes before half time, Bruno Cesar puts Benfica ahead at Otelul.[LNB] Predator: Gomez pounces to fire Bayern Munich ahead[LNB]20.24: GOAL! BAYERN MUNICH 1-0 Manchester City[LNB]They were warned. Ribery's low effort is parried straight into the path of Thomas Muller by Hart, but despite doing well to save the rebound, Mario Gomez reacts to slot in the next one.[LNB]20.23: Alexander Frei, your time as joker of the night is over.[LNB]Bastian Schweinsteiger races onto a low ball across the six-yard-box but defies the law of physics by firing over the bar hart's bar. Incredible.[LNB]20.22: Alexander Frei you are just giving me ammo! The striker now heads way over unmarked in the box. Basle haven't had the possession or the goals but they have had much better chances.[LNB]20.20: You just can't do that, especially against United...in Europe. Park Joo Hoo loses concentration (and therefore the ball) inside his own area allowing Welbeck to eventually get a low shot on goal that is well saved by Sommer.[LNB]20.17: From InfostradaLive:[LNB]Danny Welbeck is the first player in the #CL to score twice within 2 minutes since Gareth Bale for #Spurs at #Inter on 20 Oct 2010 [LNB]20.14: An interesting game in Munich. City have attacked the hosts with purpose but Munich always look dangerous in City's half as Joe Hart parries way Franck Ribery's 23-yard drive.[LNB]20.11: City have a penalty appeal in Germany after Richards appears to go down under a challenge from Boateng (of all people). I really need to see that again but I think Roberto Mancini's side have a case there.[LNB]20.09: Get those Frei players off the pitch. useless! This time it' Alexander Frei with a free shot inside the box but he fires wide of David De Gea's goal. United's defence is having an off day this evening.[LNB]20.06: Meanwhile Napoli are flying at home to Villarreal with Marek Hamsik and Edinson Cavani both scoring inside 17 minutes. The Italian side could prove quite a nuisance in this competition.[LNB] Dan's the man: Welbeck hit a quick-fire double to put United 2-0 up[LNB]20.03: GOAL! MANCHESTER UNITED 2-0 Basle[LNB]Just what will United do without Giggs? The midfielder plays a low ball across the box to the back post where Danny Welbeck again fires into the bottom corner.[LNB]20.01: GOAL! MANCHESTER UNITED 1-0 Basle[LNB]Breakthrough, Valencia's low cross finds Ryan Giggs who simply traps the ball into Danny Welbeck's path, with the striker then squeezing a shot into the bottom corner. Not the best contact but they all count.[LNB]20.00: Excellent build up play from United who are starting to dominate.[LNB]Basle are back in numbers but they have to rely on Yann Sommer to keep out Young's half-volley following a cross from Valencia.[LNB]19.57: Shaqiri not there due to suspension.[LNB]Peyman Amini[LNB]Thanks for clearing that up, though I probably should have known that, sorry folks.[LNB] City slickers: Manchester City's David Silva (left) tussles with Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery for the ball[LNB]19.54: Better from United. Ashley Young sends a cross to the far post where Antonio Valencia heads back across goal and out for a goal-kick. One of the last players you want on the pitch to try and nod it in really.[LNB]19.51: While United have been sloppy. Fabian Frei finds himself unmarked on the edge of the box but shows no composure as he blasts way over.[LNB]19.49: Positive start from City, Micah Richards escapes down the right and his low cross is hit first time by Edin Dzeko, but straight at Manuel Neuer.[LNB]19.46: Away we go folks.[LNB]19.43: Players are out, having not seen the Allianz Arena since the World Cup, I forgot just how incredible it looks.[LNB]19.40: Right I will plead ignorance here, I have searched high and low but I can't find wonderkid Xherdan Shaqiri in the Basle line-up.[LNB]I can't find any news on him being injured or if he has changed his name by deed poll.[LNB]Can anyone give me news why Basle's best player isn't about tonight? Please let me know on one or both the addresses above.[LNB]19.35: And if it isn't rivalries, it's ex players having a pop.[LNB]In case you missed it, Jerome Boateng has had a pop at Manchester City, claiming they won't win the Champions League. Bold.[LNB]He lines up for Bayern tonight, wonder what sort of game he will have.[LNB] Unlikely hero: Gary Neville (right) scored the equaliser in a 1-1 draw the last time Basle played at Old Trafford in 2003[LNB]19.31: It's easy to spot dislike and even blind hatred in a rivalry between so clubs so I love the touch of class Manchester City have shown this week by laying a wreath at the memorial stone in Munich's Manchesterplatz.[LNB]Emotions can run high in  game but here is proof if ever it is never bigger than life and death - no matter how big the rivalry.[LNB]19.28: I will be honest I am completely sold on how good this Bayern Munich side is and I think City will do very well just to get a draw. InfostradaLive have done nothing but fuel my opinion here:[LNB]Bayern Munchen have conceded only 1 goal in 11 matches in all competitions this season and have won their last 9 matches without conceding.[LNB]19.25: From OptaJoe:[LNB]7 - Ryan Giggs has been directly involved in seven of Manchester Utd's last 12 Champions League goals, (two goals, five assists). Veteran[LNB]19.22: Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson chooses Danny Welbeck to lead the line for this evening's Champions League Group C clash with Basle at Old Trafford.[LNB]With Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez out injured, Ferguson opts to select the 20-year-old ahead of Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen, who are both named as substitutes.[LNB]Welbeck is supported in attack by Ryan Giggs, while Michael Carrick and Fabio also come into the United first XI.[LNB]19.17: Basle squad now amended (below) so they actually have more than seven players in their starting line-up...[LNB]19.12: From Old Trafford:[LNB]Man Utd v Basle Man Utd: De Gea, Rafael Da Silva, Jones, Ferdinand, Evra, Anderson, Carrick, Giggs, Valencia, Welbeck, Young. Subs: Lindegaard, Owen, Berbatov, Park, Nani, Fletcher, Diouf.[LNB]Basle: Sommer, Steinhofer, Abraham, Dragovic, Park, Fabian Frei, Cabral, Zoua, Granit Xhaka, Alexander Frei, Streller. Subs: Colomba, Ajeti, Schurpf, Chipperfield, Taulant Xhaka, Kovac, Pak.Referee: Paolo Tagliavento (Italy)[LNB] Setback: Manchester City had to come from a goal down to snatch an equaliser in their first group game against Napoli[LNB]19.07: Roberto Mancini resists the temptation to recall Carlos Tevez but does include Kolo Toure in his Manchester City line-up to face Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena tonight.[LNB]Toure is the only change from Saturday's win over Everton, with Nigel de Jong joining Tevez on the bench as Mario Balotelli is suspended.[LNB]Arjen Robben is amongst the substitutes but Bayern still name an exceptionally strong side, including former City defender Jerome Boateng, who stoked the fires in the build-up to the match by claiming the Blues are not good enough to win the Champions League.[LNB]19.04: Full line-ups from the Allianz Arena:[LNB]Bayern Munich v Man CityBayern Munich: Neuer, Rafinha, Van Buyten, Boateng, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Gustavo, Muller, Kroos, Ribery, Gomez. Subs: Butt, Petersen, Robben, Usami, Contento, Alaba, Tymoschuk.[LNB]Man City: Hart, Richards, Kompany, Toure, Clichy, Nasri, Barry, Toure Yaya, Silva, Aguero, Dzeko. Subs: Pantilimon, Zabaleta, Lescott, Milner, Kolarov, Tevez, De Jong.[LNB]Referee: Viktor Kassai (Hungary)[LNB]19.01: Manchester City starting XI:[LNB]Hart, Richards, Kompany, Kolo Toure, Clichy, Barry, Yaya Toure, Nasri, Silva, Dzeko, Aguero.[LNB]18.58: From OptaJoe:[LNB]1 - In 17 attempts, only one English club has managed to beat Bayern Munich on their own turf in Europe: Norwich City in 1993. Formidable[LNB]18.55: So just how good are Manchester City? Apart from one dodgy half against Fulham they have been steam rolling opponents left, right and centre in the Premier League.[LNB]Tonight though they face Bayern Munich, easy pickings you say, when was the last time they won anything?[LNB]You just ask fans of every other English side how hard it is to win in the German powerhouse's back yard.* Team news on the way.[LNB]*Except Norwich City[LNB] All smiles: Sergio Aguero (right) is expected to lead Manchester City's attack in Germany[LNB]  Rooney scare for England after injured striker ruled out of next two United gamesMoyes points the finger at Kompany for deliberately trying to hurt CahillAll the latest Manchester United news, features and opinionAll the latest Manchester City news, features and opinion[LNB]
