Manchester City's underappreciated workhorse Milner wanted by Italian giants AC Milan

After 90 minutes at the Etihad on Saturday Manchester City were yet again left to rue their sluggish start. For 80% of the match they had control of the ball but lacked ideas, and that is an understatement, as to how to place that ball into their opponents net. Credit is due, in great respect, to Hull City’s defensive concentration. However, the lethargy of City’s attack was at times woeful. James Milner came on during the latter stages and as per his usual self he never stopped running until the final whistle was blown. His dedication is something that was missing from the Manchester City side throughout. But, as soon as Milner entered the frame City’s attack became ever more threatening and a breakthrough was surely to come, and it did. The highly underestimated attacking midfielder provided that breakthrough with an exceptional free kick during injury time. Two points dropped but the title not lost quite yet. Until his arrival on the pitch though, City were destined for defeat and now, finally, hearing about Milner’s worth and professionalism being under appreciated should most certainly be getting old. So, to hear that he is being scouted by AC Milan due to not agreeing a new deal with the Citizens as of yet, should be upsetting to any England, or rather, football fan. But, nonetheless the rumors are there.

Many people will let this go over their head and yet many more may finally realize Milner’s worth. With all of the inconsistency in his side’s title defense surely his name cannot be brought up. Additionally, his name and the word effort should be completely synonymous. But, as a simple Yorkshire man, Milner may never get the praise he deserves. That is something that could play into Milan’s favor and against City’s interests, considering their need to restructure in the near future.
