Manchester City are closing in on Wolfsburg forward Kevin De Bruyne but want to wait until Saturday's match with Watford is out of the way before making any deal public, according to the Bundesliga club's director of sport Klaus Allofs.
Agreement has been reached between all parties on most aspects of the deal with Allofs telling Germany's Sky television on Friday evening that just a few minor details need to be resolved.
Those should be ironed out overnight or early morning, but Allofs says City have informed him they do not wish to make the deal official until Saturday evening at the earliest, with Manuel Pellegrini's men taking on Watford at 3pm.
"They have told me that nothing's going to happen today or tomorrow morning," Allofs said.
De Bruyne was a spectator as Wolfsburg moved to the top of the Bundesliga on Friday night with a 3-0 win over Schalke.
The 24-year-old Belgium international is understood already to have bid farewell to his team-mates having been left out of the squad due to what now seems an inevitable transfer.
"We need players who are 100 per cent focused on the club," said Allofs, referring to the exclusion of De Bruyne and Ivan Perisic, who is set to join Inter Milan this weekend.
"We can envisage a transfer [for Perisic to Inter] if the conditions are right," Allofs added.
