The undoubted clash of the day sees big-spending Manchester City take on Premier League leaders Chelsea at Eastlands.
With players like John Terry, Didier Drogba, Robinho, Emmanuel Adebayor, Petr Cech and Gareth Barry potentially to take to the field, it promises to be a mouth-watering contest.
Chelsea will be sky-high following their superb 3-0 success at London rivals Arsenal on Sunday afternoon that consolidated their five-point lead over current Premier League holders Manchester United.
However, confidence may have been slightly dented by the Carling Cup quarter-final exit on penalties to Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday.
But a win against ambitious City would certainly show they will take some stopping as they aim to regain the league crown they last won at the end of the 2005/06 campaign.
City boss Mark Hughes has watched helplessly from the sidelines in recent weeks as his expensively assembled unit have managed to draw their last seven games.
Their inability to turn these draws into wins has saw them drift 14 points behind their weekend opponents.
Despite the string of draws, they remain undefeated in their last 11 games in all competition and have yet to slip up on home soil.
Wednesday's 3-0 Carling Cup win over Arsenal certainly indicated how ruthless they can be on their day.
Chelsea's unrelenting charge has culminated in five successive wins in the league without conceding a single goal while racking up an impressive 17 goals in the process.
With these statistics on their side, it would be difficult to rule out another ruthless away day win and halt City's own unbeaten run.
Didier Drogba, a two goal hero at Emirates Stadium, is in top form and alongside Nicolas Anelka, the pair are the Premier League's hot property at the moment.
City could be without Martin Petrov (knee) while the visitors may only be missing long-term knee victim Jose Bosingwa.
In September last year, Chelsea cruised to a 3-1 success despite Robinho opening the scoring for the home side.
