The England international has been one of David Moyes' most successful acquisitions, and Everton would be keen to keep hold of him. But the Daily Mirror claims wages of £80,000 could tempt the former Wolves centre-back to make the switch to Eastlands. 'I have made it clear. We will not be letting any players go. I'd like to have some money to spend, but I certainly won't be giving up any of my players to raise that money.' City manager Mark Hughes has already signed Gareth Barry, from Aston Villa, and Roque Santa Cruz from Blackburn this summer, and the versatile Lescott would be another proven addition. Hughes identified the need to acquire a target man shortly after his arrival at City last summer and Santa Cruz, a player he signed for Blackburn, has always been his favoured signing to tick that particular box. With only January signing Craig Bellamy likely to have a long-term future among City's current forward line, Hughes also pinpointed the need for two top-class forwards to play off the target man and both Carlos Tevez and Samuel Eto'o remain at the top of his wanted list.
