Shay Given will discover this week if he needs to undergo surgery after the Manchester City goalkeeper suffered a shoulder injury.

Given, who has played second fiddle to Joe Hart all season, was not on the bench for this afternoon's 5-0 FA Cup victory over Notts County.

Second fiddle: Shay Given has only featured four times for Man City this season

'He has a shoulder problem and next week he will go to the doctor in London to see if he needs surgery,' City manager Roberto Mancini said.

Given, 34, has made only four appearances for City this season.
