Manchester City join West Ham in race for £3.5m Atalanta's Tiberio Guarente

Manchester City have been linked with a move for Atalanta midfielder Tiberio Guarente as Roberto Mancini looks to add steel to his midfield.[LNB]The Eastlands boss almost signed McDonald Mariga from Parma and Real Madrid's Fernando Gago in the winter before settling on a short-term move for 33-year-old Patrick Vieira.[LNB]And with Mancini ready to go back into the market, Guarente's agent says City are among the clubs chasing the highly rated 24-year-old.[LNB] In the running: Atalanta's 5ft 11in midfielder Tiberio Guarente [LNB]Napoli have already made a £3.5million move for a player who was being touted around for more than double that a year ago - before Atalanta's relegation from Serie A.[LNB]Udinese and West Ham have also been linked, though the departure of Gianfranco Zola from Upton Park could have quelled the Hammers' interest.
