Manchester City give Samuel Eto'o 24 hour ultimatum

A fortnight ago, City made known their interest in the Cameroon international for whom Barcelona want £25 million. But it seems the Eastlands board have tired of waiting and are now prepared to move on to other targets should a deal not be wrapped up soon. According to the Mirror, City have offered Eto'o £200,000-a-week - a sum they believe is more than enough to tempt the world's best players - but they now fear that his stalling may indicate he is holding out for offers from bigger clubs. It appears City is not the only club frustrated by the 28-year-old's lack of decision making. Barcelona president Joan Laporta, who claims the Spanish side has already offered Eto'o a two year extension to the 12 months remaining on his current contract, said he is having difficulty getting in touch with his player. "I've called him a couple of times, but he hasn't picked up the phone. I don't know if he has changed his number or what," Laporta said earlier this week. Contrary to earlier reports, Barcelona are eager to keep hold of Eto'o, but like many clubs in the current financial climate, they cannot ignore it when "stratospheric" offers like City's come in. Eager to resolve the situation, Laporta added: "The situation has saddened me because we've always had a clear and direct relationship. We offered him two years and we're waiting for his answer. I would like to be able to talk to him calmly."
