Manchester City Football Club: Fixtures 2009/2010

17 June 2009 10:00
Mark Hughes, the City manager, will be hoping to showcase his new-look side following what is expected to be a busy summer of spending at the City of Manchester Stadium when he visits his former club on Aug 15. Hughes will visit another former club on Aug 19 when he will take his side to Goodison Park where he can pit his wits against Everton manager David Moyes. Desperate to break into the Premier League's 'big four', City will have to wait until Sept 12 before they face a team from the elite group who manage to consistently qualify for Champions League football when Arsenal visit. A week later Hughes and his side will make the short trip to Old Trafford where they will face champions Manchester United. After losing both fixtures last season against rivals United, City fans will be hoping their team can repeat the successes of the 2007/08 season when they managed to complete a rare double over United when they beat them 2-1 away and 1-0 at home. City will go into the new year just as they started the season with fixtures against Blackburn on Jan 9 and Everton (16). City's run-in will provide supporters and management plenty to talk about after being handed fixtures with United, Arsenal, Aston Villa and a potentially tricky trip to Upton Park to face Gianfranco Zola's West Ham United on May 9.
