Manchester City are NOT ready to challenge for honours - Zlatan Ibrahimovic reveals reason for snub

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has slammed the brakes on talk of a move to ManchesterCity claiming the club isn't ready to challenge for major honours, but refusedto rule out a transfer in the future.

Ibrahimovic was heavily linked with a move to City this summer but has joinedAC Milan on loan with a view to a permanent move last week after an unhappyspell at Barcelona.

The Swede has revealed he was not interested in joining Roberto Mancini'srevolution as he does not feel they areready yet to challenge for major honours, unlike Milan.

He said: 'City must fight Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal - sideswhich took years to build," said Ibrahimovic.

'City are still a side for the future. I chose Milan because they are ateam that can win prizes now.

'City can wait for the future but I can't.'

Ibrahimovic's relationship with Barce boss Pepe Guardiloa hurried hisexit from the Bernabeu, but the 28-year-old insits there was nothing else hecould do.

'The problems began in March. I asked for an explanation, but he did notgive it to me,' said  Ibrahimovic. 'Icouldn't take it. I had no choice but to find a new place of work and I waslucky to go to a club like Milan.

'I will soon be 29 years old and cannot afford to lose a year sitting onthe bench and watching the weather. I saw what happened last season withThierry Henry.'
