12 April 2009 15:23
92 The refereee puts the home side out of their misery by blowing the full time whistle. Man City 1 Fulham 3. 91 Fulham are keeping the ball as City look to have accepted defeat. 90 The referee has indicated that there will be two minutes of added on time. 89 Evans looks to work space for a shot but he is crowded out on the egde of the area. 88 Murphy comes off for Fulham he has played well and he is replaced by Dacourt. 87 Ireland looks to grab his second of the afternoon with a deft lob over Schwarzer after a mix up in the Fulham defence but the keeper comfortably catches. 86 The ground is emptying quickly as City fans look to have had enough for one afternoon. 85 Gera is on for Dempsey and Kamara replaces Zamora for Fulham. 84 City look to hit back immediately but Evans' header in the area from a Zabaleta cross is well saved by Scwarzer. 83 GOAL Game over now as Dempsey gets his second of the game as he slides the ball left footed past Given after Fulham hit the home side on the break. 82 Davies swings in the ball and Hangeland rises unchallenged but he cannot connect cleanly. The ball is worked to Davies again who picks out the centre-back once more but this time his header is saved by Given. 81 Murphy brings the ball forward for Fulham but sees his long range effort deflected over for a corner. 80 The kick comes in and Schwarzer looks unconvincing again but Fulham clear. 80 City work the ball wide again and Konchesky puts the ball behind for a corner. 79 Robinho is trying to get on the ball and influence proceedings as he picks out Richards who feeds Sturridge but his left footed effort is blocked. 78 The corner evades everyone and finds De Jong at the back stick but his scissor kick attempt sees the ball go harmlessly wide for a goal kick. 77 The ball is played in from the right and finds Evans. The youngster turns on the ball but his shot is deflected for a corner. 76 The visitors continue to push forward in search of a game clinching third goal but Johnson is penalised for a foul down by the left corner flag. 75 City continue to struggle in the final third with the crucial pass going astray. 74 Davies whips in the free-kick right footed and Given comes but his punch is weak. Hangeland latches onto the loose ball but his header with the whole goal to aim for from just five yards goes over. 73 The kick is cleared by the Cottages and Dempsey runs in behind Richards. The midfielder seems to get his heels clipped and is awarded a free-kick. 72 City respond and come forward down the left through Sturridge and he wins a corner for his side. 71 Pantsil takes the throw and receives the ball back from Zamora. The right-backs cross goes back post to Murphy who gets to the by-line and picks out Johnson but the striker wants an age to pick his spot and his effort is blocked. 70 The away side are still comfortable in possession as Zamora pressurises Onuoha into clearing for a throw in by the right corner lfag. 69 City have lifted the tempo of the game in the last few mintues can they grab a goal? 68 Sturridge is looking lively and he surges forward and cracks an effort on goal from distance but it trickles wide. 67 The two substitutes combine brilliantly for City. Sturridge plucks the ball out of the sky and slides in Robinho with a reverse pass but the Brazlilian's effort lacks power and Schwarzer saves low to his left. Good chance. 66 Fulham are winning all the second balls in midfield but City are saved by the linesmans flag when Johnson is caught offside. 65 City fans are starting to get impatient but it's Fulham who continue to look the more dangerous on the attack. 64 So when Robinho does produce he usually saves his best for Eastlands. His side definitely need him now. 63 Robinho on for Petrov and Sturridge will replace Kelvin Etuhu. 62 It looks like Hughes is bringing on the big guns with Robinho and Sturridge set to come on. 61 Dempsey pounces on a poor City clearance. His cross is met by Davies but his header goes straight at Given. 60 Johnson is giving Dunne the run around here as he wins a free-kick for his side. Murphy stands over it on the right hand touchline but his delivery is poor. 59 GOAL Fulham have turned this game around. Dickson Etuhu touches the ball out of his feet on the edge of the area and fires the ball past Given to his right hand side. Brilliant goal. 58 Johnson out paces Dunne again and the defender pulls back the striker by the shirt. Surely a penalty but the referee ignores the shouts. 57 Zamora races down the right and lays the ball back for Pantsil whose cross just evades the head of Johnson. 56 Evans looks to make an immediate impact by winning a free-kick byt the referee waves play on. 55 The decision seems harsh on the Bulgarian as he has been starved of any decent delivery and what he did do was impressive. 54 It's not Robinho who is coming on it's young Ched Evans for Bojinov. 53 The visitors are in the ascendency as they look to grab their second of the game. 52 City look short of ideas and it can't be long before we see Robinho or Elano from the bench. 51 Johnson takes the ball to the byline and skins Dunne for pace but his pull-back is just behind Zamora. 50 GOAL Zamora capitalises on a sloppy pass by Zabaleta but Richards slides in to halt the striker, unfortunately for City Dempsey runs on to the loose ball and passes it past Given low to the keeper's left. 49 Petrov, who had perhaps understandably had a quiet comeback game so far, takes a free-kick from the left-hand side but it fails to beat the first man. 48 Richards does well down the right. He cuts the ball back to Zabaleta whose cross finds Bojinov. The striker looks to shoot straight away but his path is blocked. 47 So much for a change in pace and tempo from the first half the second period has begun just the same. 46 Fulham have begun brightly again can they sustain though this time? 45 Murphy comes forward straight away and shoots from distance but his shot is blocked. That would have been some start. 45 The visitors get us back under way. Can City go on to make it seven wins in a row? Both teams are back on the pitch with Fulham set to kick off. Jordan in Kent is confident that Fulham can get a draw or even a sneaky win. Elizabeth is pleased that the Etuhu brothers are playing but one fan who hasn't left his name wonders why Elano isn't playing instead of Kelvin Etuhu. Email me at Richard.bailey2@bskyb.com. So City and Fulham fans what do you think? City supporters are you happy with the performance? Fulham fans can you come back to win, you've definitely had your chances? 46 The referee blows the half-time whistle. Hopefully the second half will get a little better. 45 Bojinov charges down the left but just when he shows a calm head in lifting his head up to pick out a pass he gives the ball away on the egde of the area. 44 Konchesky takes left footed but Zamora is penalised for holding in the penalty area. 43 With the half drawing to a close Fulham earn a corner on the left as Dunne slides in on Dempsey. 42 City earn a corner on the right. Petrov sends it to the near post and the ball seems to come off Kelvin Etuhu's back and goes out of play. 41 Petrov has the ball for City on the left but his deep cross finds Richards but his wild volley goes well wide. 40 Murphy fouls again in the centre circle. That's his third of the day. Surely one more and he will see a yellow card. 39 The game has an end of season feel to it but with a possible European place at stake you would expect both side's to lift their performances in the second half. 38 Pantsil looks to come forward from right-back but he is closed down well by Ireland. City are certainly working hard enough. 37 Kelvin Etuhu looks to charge down the right but he is harshly stopped in his tracks by Murphy. No card. 36 Fulham are having another good spell as the ball is played up to Johnson but his flick on to Dempsey is read by Richards. 35 The Cottagers come forward with Johnson down the left he dips inside and looks to slip in Dempsey but Dunne comes across to clear. 34 Fulham have certainly let their game drop since the goal as City are now enjoying more of the ball. 33 Johnson tries to find Davies over the top but play is brought back for offside. 32 The visitors are still full of running and will be determined to make sure that they don't concede another before half-time. 31 City have their tails up and Petrov is nearly set free down the left but Pantsil does well. 30 City come close to making it two when Zabaleta intercepts a pass and feeds Bojinov who shoots just wide from distance with Zabaleta screaming for a return pass. 29 Fulham will feel hard done by as it was City's first shot on goal. 28 Fulham have the chance to hit back immediately but two poor deliveries from the visitors enable City to clear their lines. 27 GOAL Ireland comes forwards unchallenged and curls the ball into the far right top corner. The ball was definitely helped by the aid of a deflection off City old boy Dickson Etuhu. 26 City panic again at the back. Murphy plays the ball over the top to set free Johnson. Dunne and Richards get in each others way and for a second it seems that the striker has a clear shot on goal but Richards scrapes the ball clear. 25 City look to break with Zabaleta but his pass to Petrov on the left is cut out by Pantsil. The home side had men over then. 24 Neither side seem to be threatening at the moment with most of the play happening in the middle of the park. Fulham will be the happier of the two sides. 23 The Argentine will take the free-kick but there are only two City players in advanced positions for the midfielder to aim for. 22 Konchesky is booked for a late challenge on Zabaleta. 21 Cityare starting to threaten and commit numbers to attack but still not one clear cut chance has come their way. 20 City win another corner on the right and Petrov comes over to take. Schwarzer comes to claim but gets nowhere near the ball but Dickson Etuhu clears. 19 The ball is switched to Etuhu on the right and he wins a corner for his side. The ball is whipped in but Hangeland clears at the near post. 18 The game has slowed to walking pace at the moment as Dunne and Onuoha exchange passes at the back. 17 The Cottagers are looking steady and you wouldn't guess that they have won just once away from home this season. 16 City are playing high balls up to Bojinov but the Bulgarian is struggling to compete with Hangeland in the air. 15 Davies trys to find Zamora over the top but Given races off his line to collect. 14 Fulham are definitely trying utilise Johnson's pace over the top but the City defence are equal to it at the moment. 13 Ireland tries to inspire City with an inventive around the corner pass which would have set free Bojinov but Hughes is alive and clears the danger. 12 Murphy is orchestrating the Fulham attack and he fires a pass into Zamora but the striker's pass to find strike partner Johnson is sniffed out by Dunne. 11 Johnson runs Onuoha down to the right corner flag but the defender does well and wins a throw in for his side. 10 The atmosphere is rather subdued at Eastlands today and you sense the team need to do something to lift them. 9 Things just aren't clicking for City at the moment with passes going astray. 8 City are looking to keep the ball to stem Fulham's attacking play. 7 City look nervy at the back. Long free-kick into the box is headed back into the danger zone by Etuhu but Richards is there to head clear. 6 Fulham should have scored again. Murphy feeds Johnson who spins and lays the ball to Dempsey in the area but the American shoots well wide. 5 Penalty shout for Fulham. Johnson gets the wrong side of Dunne and goes down under the challenge of Onuoha but TV replays show there was litle contact. 4 Given makes a key save. Dempsey heads the ball through for Zamora to chase. Dunne falls over under pressure from the striker but Zamora'a effort on the turn is saved. Should have scored. 3 Kelvin Etuhu gets his first chance to run at Konchesky but SImon Davies helps his full-back out and wins the ball. 2 Ireland comes forward and lays the ball to Bojinov, who gets the ball out of his feet and shoots at goal but his effort from 25 yards is high and wide. 2 All of a sudden Dempsey bursts down the left wing and plays the ball inside for Zamora who lets it run to Johnson but just when it looks like the striker has a clear shot on goal Onuoha comes across to block. 1 The sun is shining in Manchester and City are playing the ball around casually at the back. 1 City kick-off and are kicking from left to right. Chris from Kent believes that it will be a close encounter with City winning 1-0. Andrew from Mauritius also reckons City will come out on top with a 1-0 win with Robinho coming off the bench and scoring in the second half. The players are in the tunnel as they prepare to come out. Both sides know that the winner of this fixture can go eighth in the table and keep alive hopes of qualifying for Europe. Also today City forward Kelvin Etuhu plays against his older Dickson, who left the Blues under Kevin Keegan. City fans can you bounce back from your disappointment in Germany on Thursday with another home win today? Let me know. We're just 10 mintues away from kick-off. Email me your thoughts to Richard.bailey2@bskyb.com. Fulham fans it's same old same old for with your steady starting XI. You've had two impressive performances in recent weeks, beating Man Utd and coming within seconds of drawing with Liverpool but can you add to your one away this season with three points today? Also Martin Petrov is restored after being sidelined since August surely that is good news for the run-in? So City fans Robinho is dropped to the bench and is replaced by Bojinov what do you think, has Mark Hughes got it right?
