Manchester City will make a move for West Ham and England defender Matthew Upson if they fail to land Joleon Lescott and Sylvain Distin. City still want two defenders but are struggling to prise Lescott away from Everton while Distin believes his best career move would be to Aston Villa. Upson, 30, has ironically attracted interest from Villa and Everton and is rated at around £12m.
