Man City prepare player swap as part of Pogba talks

Manchester City officials have travelled to Italy to hold talks over a possible transfer of their star man Paul Pogba worth a reported £70million.

The former champions are supposedly the only club to visit Juventus directly to discuss what would be a Premier League record signing to bring the player back to England. The report states that City are prepared to do whatever it takes to push through the signing including offering Juventus their pick of Yaya Toure, Samir Nasri, Edin Dzeko, Steven Jovetic or Aleksandar Kolarov plus cash for the gifted midfielder.

Pogba is under contract with Juventus until June 2019 and the club from Turin are extremely keen to keep hold of their star, slapping a massive 100m euro on his back to ward off casual enquiries. That said Pogba appears to be in great demand for PSG in particular although the big valuation appears to have put off Real Madrid. Barcelona are also understood to be interested although quite how they would engineer a deal given their transfer restrictions remains to be seen.

Juventus team-mate Pirlo has dismissed the possibility of Pogba returning to Manchester United: “He seems very happy at Juventus," said Pirlo. "I know he is focused on finishing the season with a lot of success. Whatever the future is for him I don't see it being Manchester United.

“He didn't feel he was treated well there. I know that was under Sir Alex Ferguson and now there is a new coach, but I do not seeing him returning to a club where he was not treated well.”

Pogba, having returned from a thigh injury with a goal against Cagliari at the weekend faces a tough challenge against Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday. There will certainly be interest in Manchester on how he performs as Juventus hope to hold onto a narrow advantage.
