Khaldoon Al Mubarak Support: Man City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has backed Mark Hughes in his spat with Sir Alex Ferguson over the £25m fee the Eastlands club paid for Carlos Tevez. The Manchester United boss claimed that Tevez 'wasn't worth the money' after his move to City in July. The £25m figure was believed to have been paid to the player's advisers who owned his economic rights. But Mubarak supported City boss Hughes' decision to splash out on the Argentina forward. He said: 'Sir Alex commented on the price that we paid for Carlos Tevez and Mark's response to that was spot on. 'The value of Tevez to Manchester City is different to the value of Tevez to Manchester United. That's the reality of football today.' The arrival of Everton defender Joleon Lescott has taken City's spending to £118m this summer but Al Mubarek is confident that success is not far off for the club. He said: 'We've embarked on this very challenging acquisition initiative this summer and I think now, looking back, every addition has been a solid addition. That's exactly what we had in mind and I'm very confident we will get value for money.' 'It doesn't faze me, Mark Hughes or anyone in our leadership team and we are actually looking forward to proving to everyone we can do it in the right way, which we believe we've been doing.'
