Magpies rule out SWP swoop

ewcastle manager Chris Hughton insists that Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips is not one of his summer transfer targets.[LNB] The Magpies are expected to bring in new recruits following their return to the Premier League, although Hughton is working on a limited budget and is wary of disrupting the harmony in his squad.[LNB]Wright-Phillips has been linked with a move to St James' Park as he continues to discuss a contract extension at City, where first-team football has not always been guaranteed.[LNB]But Hughton, who has admitted an interest in Arsenal's Jack Wilshere, has dismissed the speculation and will not be making an approach to City.[LNB]The Newcastle boss said in the Manchester Evening News: "As far as Shaun Wright-Phillips is concerned, he is not one who will be coming here.[LNB]"Shaun is in contract negotiations at the moment and it is normal for him to be linked with other clubs."
