Kompany eyes Euro success

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany admits the Champions League is "massive" for the club this season. City made their maiden appearance in the tournament last season, but surprisingly failed to make it out of the group stages with Bayern Munich and Napoli progressing at their expense.

Now after claiming the Premier League crown in May, City are amongst the favourites to claim the biggest prize in club football. And Kompany admits that City are taking a keener interest in the quest to become European champions. "We had 10 points last season and we should have come through," Kompany told Sky Sports NewsHD.

"But we have a team that is probably stronger and for us the Champions League is massive, also the Premier League - but we want to do better." City begin their Champions League quest next week with a trip to Spanish champions Real Madrid.
