Kompany deserved red card, say Rooney and Ferdinand as City and United continue feud

Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand have backed referee Chris Foy's decision to send Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany off during United's pulsating 3-2 victory in the FA Cup third round.[LNB]The 25-year-old Belgian faces a four-match ban after receiving a straight red card for a two-footed tackle on Nani - although replays show he played the ball first. [LNB]Rooney, who scored twice in the match and has been accused by Roberto Mancini of getting Kompany sent off in the 12th minute, tweeted: 'Funny how people think i got kompany sent off. Im not ref. i didnt give red card. But it was a clear red card. 2 footed tackle.'
