And he has urged anyone who thinks that the Blues are all about buying success to think again. Kompany has been a key part of City?s bid for the Champions League since arriving from Hamburg for £6m in August 2008. The Belgian midfielder ? who spent a significant chunk of last season at centre-back ? is as keen as anyone to end the club?s wait for a major trophy, which stretches back to 1976. But he insists the Blues are looking at more than just winning a cup or two. He is excited about the prospect of long-term success at Eastlands, and is sure that owner Sheikh Mansour wants to build the club in the right way by securing solid foundations rather than short-term success. Kompany said: ?The owner clearly didn?t come in just to buy a bunch of players, he came in with a vision. ?It?s a project ? something far more rewarding that just winning a trophy. Something that?s lasting. ?That?s what you have to respect about what?s happening, the fact that there?s a plan there. ?It?s just a matter of time, because if people stick to what they want to do and don?t give up, they?ll get there. What is happening at City is far more than just ?flash and cash?. ?For me, it?s nothing to do with that. ?It?s somebody coming in with a vision and wanting to realise that vision through any means necessary. ?That?s the difference between a dream and a vision. City are prepared to do what it takes to succeed, and the Sheikh doesn?t see a problem as something that will stop him. ?The people in charge at City are the right people because they have the passion and motivation. ?If someone doesn?t have that, they don?t bother looking for ways to solve the problem. ?But what?s happening here is one problem being solved, and then another, and then one day you will get to where you need to get. ?It?s just a matter of time.? How long will City have to wait before they win silverware? Have your say.| Submit Comments| Comments (45)| Printable VersionAdd A CommentEnter your comments:
