Kolarov Signs New Deal With City

Manchester City player, Aleksander Kolarov, has signed a new deal that will see him stay with the club until the summer of 2018.

The Serbian international, who joined from Lazio in 2010 still had a year on his contract but the management and owners of the club were determined to keep someone who has been a major part of their rise to success over recent years.

Kolarov made 30 appearances in the last Premier League season and helped City to win their second title in three years, so it is reassuring to the team and the fans to see him sign this new contract. He himself has stated to the club’s website that he is “very, very proud of this new contract.”

With City team members being the highest paid footballers in Europe at the moment, according to a recent BBC Sport article, there is little wonder he would say that, but then again, he has made such an impact at The Etihad since his arrival. Seldom has any club seen someone so professional and driven in what they are doing. He added, “I will give to this club the best stages of my football career” and added that City is his home.

The fans will feel reassured that this part of the defence is secured, that he is able to offer his services to the club for a few more years and one would hope to see much more success. One thing is definite, for Manchester United to finish above City, as the claim was recently made by Sir Bobby Charlton, they will have to find ways to deal with someone as effective as Aleksander Kolarov!
