Burnley midfielder Kevin McDonald has been fined for heading to the pub after being subbed during his side's humiliating defeat by Manchester City.[LNB]Having a bad day: Kevin McDonald of Burnley was taken off at 5-0 down then fined for having a pint during the second half[LNB]McDonald was taken off at the interval of Saturday's game as Burnley trailed 5-0. But instead of returning to the stands after his shower, he nipped next door to join his father in the bar instead.[LNB]The Scotland Under 21 player has been docked a week's wages - £5,000 - for popping into the 110 Club next to Turf Moor, and may be axed for the rest of the season. The incident will further depress morale in the Burnley camp as they prepare for Saturday's six-pointer at Hull.[LNB]The 6-1 thumping by City has left them needing to beat Hull to have a realistic hope of survival. And boss Brian Laws' attempts to foster a never-say-die team spirit have been hit hard by McDonald's decision to snub his losing team-mates.[LNB]There have been rumours in recent weeks of player unrest after a run of one win in 22Premier League matches. [LNB]McDonald has apologised for his actions. He said: 'I now realise it was naive, disrespectful and totally wrong of me to leave the ground at half-time. [LNB]'It was a gross misjudgement and instead I should have remained at Turf Moor to support my club and team-mates. [LNB]'I also showed a serious lack of respect to all the fans who were at the ground and who pay to watch their team play. I would like to apologise to the players, management and supporters.'[LNB]Burnley fans have surprisingly backed McDonald, 21. Alan Beecroft, chairman of the Colne Clarets, said: 'I wish I had done the same thing. I don't think it will make a difference as to how Kevin is viewed.[LNB]'He was obviously disappointed about the game and being taken off and has goneto see his dad to talk about it. He has apologised for what he did, so I don't think Burnley fans will take badly to him. [LNB]'The main things supporters are all talking about is getting behind the club in the last few games to try and keep us up.' [LNB]And Laws admits that being too hard on his Burnley flops after their 6-1 rout by City could be counter-productive. [LNB]He said: 'We can go through the horror story again, again and again, but that is not going to make them feel any better.[LNB]'I'm going to have to regroup with the players and make sure we put in a better performance at Hull.'[LNB] McDonald fined for walking out on Burnley at half-time of Man City hellPaying the penalty: Mido and Darren Bent the latest Premier League stars to flop from the spot... but who keeps saving them?Burnley 1 Manchester City 6: Mancini's men edge towards Champions League ESPN win race for Premier League mobile highlights rightsBURNLEY FC
