The Blues winger last week caused some consternation ? and a little anger ? when he hinted that he would ask for a move away from City if he continues to be left out of the team. The 23-year-old England winger admits that he shocked himself when he saw his own words in print. Now he says he intends to knuckle down, work hard and earn his place in the City team following some public criticism from manager Roberto Mancini. The boss and player appeared to be at loggerheads as Mancini referred to Johnson?s social life and suggested he had a lot to learn before he became a top player and the player responded with an apparent threat to leave. But Johnson says his words were simply the result of his own anxiety at being left on the bench and that he has no intention of quitting City. ?I said something in a moment of frustration and things can get blown out of proportion,? he said, after returning to City training on Thursday following his substitute appearance for England against France. ?I am happy here. I love playing football more than anything and I?d love to play in every game  but it would be wrong to think I want to leave. I don?t. ?My future is here long-term, without a doubt. I?ve only been here eight months but my career has already changed for the better. It would be stupid of me to want to leave.? City fans themselves have wanted to see more of Johnson, who has made just five starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League this season. Supporters love his old-fashioned wing play and have vocalised their belief that he can open up tight games by singing his name.
