Johnson gunning for a derby cure

Adam JohnsonAdam Johnson is out to heap more misery on Arsenal tonight - and help City cure their derby day blues. The winger suffered a frustrating afternoon last Saturday as neighbours United claimed a 1-0 victory at Eastlands with Paul Scholes' last-gasp header. Johnson has been consistently impressive since his £8m move from Middlesbrough in January but he could not get the better of Patrice Evra last weekend, and was taken off after 65 minutes. Johnson, though, is refreshed and ready for a crack at the Gunners this evening, as he bids to continue his push for a place in England's World Cup squad. City boss Roberto Mancini has no new injury worries ahead of the game, with Micah Richards ready to return to action after a knee injury which has kept him out for three weeks. Emmanuel Adebayor has overcome a minor hamstring niggle and is ready to face his former club, while keeper Shay Given is OK despite suffering a slight knock. Johnson feels it might be a good time for City - who have beaten Arsenal twice already this season - to notch up a first away victory over the Gunners since October 1975. The 22-year-old said: "Arsenal have had back-to-back defeats, which is not like them. "Perhaps we will catch them when they are cold or with their heads down and a few players missing." "But whatever their frame of mind, we know it will be tough. "Nothing will be decided this weekend. There is a lot of football yet to be played. The make-or-break games are likely to be when Villa and Tottenham come to our place." What is your prediction for the game? Have your say. | Submit Comments| Comments (14)| PrintWhat's this?
