Johnson dismisses form worries

Manchester City winger Adam Johnson has baulked at suggestions his form may have dipped after two eye-catching performances for England.[LNB] Johnson, 23, scored twice in the victories against Bulgaria and Switzerland in back-to-back Euro 2012 qualifiers last month after stepping off the bench.[LNB]He was then reminded by City manager Roberto Mancini that he needed to work even harder now he was an international.[LNB]The upshot was that the £7million buy from Middlesbrough in January found himself on Carling Cup duty among the fringe players, which resulted in a defeat by West Brom.[LNB]And he was back on the bench on Saturday playing only the last 13 minutes of the 1-0 victory against Chelsea.[LNB]However Johnson was restored to the side last night and scored the equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Juventus at Eastlands in the Europa League.[LNB]Asked if that goal would kick-start his campaign, he said: "I have been playing well since the start of the season with England then against Liverpool and Blackburn.[LNB]"I just want to stay in the team. I have learned a lot about the game since I signed and I will carry on doing that.[LNB]"It was good to get a goal at the stadium. It has been a while coming. Hopefully it will be the start of many more. It was brilliant to score against Juventus."[LNB]Mancini made it clear after the group game he wants Johnson to track back and help out defensively.[LNB]He said: "Adam Johnson is a good player. He is a young player. I always want to improve.[LNB]"You have to attack and defend. He has some good moments in the game. I am sure he will do very well."[LNB]However former City full-back Danny Mills fears that Mancini does not like Johnson.[LNB]Mills told talkSPORT: "Johnson is the only person in English football at the moment who is a true winger, a dribbler.[LNB]"My only worry is he is not a Mancini-type player. I am not sure Mancini likes him because he will take the odd risk, he will give the ball away. I think he may struggle to get a regular start which would be a massive shame."
