Ireland out of Burnley game

Stephen Ireland has been ruled out of Manchester City's Premier League trip to Burnley with an ankle injury. The midfielder missed Monday's victory over Wigan but Roberto Mancini hoped he would be fit in time to feature at Turf Moor. However, Ireland has not made the progress Mancini hoped and has already been ruled out. Meanwhile, Roberto Mancini is not expecting Joe Hart's future to be resolved until the end of the season. Hart has enjoyed an exceptional campaign after being loaned out to Birmingham, which is likely to be capped by earning a place in Fabio Capello's World Cup squad this summer. Given his performances for Birmingham this term, it is no surprise Blues boss Alex McLeish is keen to secure Hart's services for another season. However, there has been some suggestion Manchester City would prefer to keep the star next year and let him battle for a first-team spot with Shay Given. Mancini admitted it was 'probable' Hart would stay. However, with a top-four place to fight for, he is eager not to allow the situation to sidetrack his side. "Joe Hart is a good goalkeeper, who next year could be an important goalkeeper for England and Manchester City," said Mancini. "He is only young and probably he will stay with us. "But it is not an important issue just now. "We must concentrate on our games and stick with what is happening this season." Which midfield line up should City go with? Have your say. | Submit Comments| Comments (28)| PrintWhat's this? Emaildel.icio.usDiggredditFacebookStumbleUponNewsvineGoogle BookmarksNetscapeTechnoratiWindows LiveYahoo! MyWebMa.gnolia
