Inter Milan cancel AWOL Adriano's contract as striker stays in Brazil

Inter Milan have cancelled the contract of Brazil striker Adriano.[LNB]The 27-year-old failed to return to the San Siro after being involved with the Brazil team at the start of April, saying he needed a break from football as he had 'lost the joy of playing.'[LNB]Reports in South America claimed Adriano had quit the game for good but his agent, Gilmar Rinaldi, insisted he would return to Italy to see out the remaining 14 months of his contract.[LNB][LNB][LNB] No going back: Adriano has played his last game for Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan[LNB]But a statement on Inter's website today confirmed: 'Inter announce that the contract with Adriano has been terminated by mutual consent with effect from April 1, 2009.'[LNB]Tottenham and Manchester City were linked with the former Parma star last season while clubs in Turkey and Brazil were believed to be interested more recently.[LNB] Adriano set to snub move to England and return to Inter, says striker's agentMilan move to head off Becks-to-Spurs reports, claiming David is crucial to ACArsenal skipper Fabregas on FA charge after Hull spit claims[LNB]
