Injury blow for Etuhu

Cardiff City have suffered an injury blow with the news that on-loan striker Kelvin Etuhu has been ruled out of action for two months. The 21-year-old suffered an ankle injury in the closing stages of the Bluebirds' home defeat to Newcastle on Sunday. Etuhu, who signed on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City, learned that he had damaged ligaments after a post-match scan. He has travelled back to Manchester to receive treatment on the injury but will return to South Wales when fully fit again. "The lad is devastated. It's a big blow for him and for us," Cardiff manager Dave Jones told WalesOnline. However, the Bluebirds are set to be lifted by the imminent return of Scotland international Ross McCormack from a hamstring injury. McCormack has not played since Cardiff's second match of the season against Blackpool but now says he could return for the clash with QPR on Saturday. The former Motherwell player described his month-long lay-off as "a nightmare" but praised the Cardiff staff for their role in his recovery. "It's been murder sitting it out in the stands for the last month - a nightmare," he said. "But I'll be fit for QPR and, if I don't get the shout from the gaffer (Dave Jones) for that one, then I'll definitely be ready for the Carling Cup tie against Aston Villa the following Wednesday. "I have been working in rehab, building the muscles up to be stronger again," said the former Motherwell striker. "I've just been itching to get back and the gaffer and the staff have been superb. "They've tried to keep me involved with the first team and I'll travel to Reading tomorrow and watch the game from the stands. "But it's never the same being out of the squad, however hard everyone tries to keep you involved. When the lads are training you're not part of it and that can be difficult at times. "It can get quite lonely and hard, you really do miss the banter, but I want to repay the staff for their patience in the only fashion I know. And that's scoring goals. "It's definitely a case of making up for lost time and getting back in the goals again."
