Hughes to buy before selling

Mark Hughes has warned suitors eyeing his Manchester City players that he will not sell before he buys this summer. With City to again invest heavily in the close-season it has been anticipated a cull will be made of those on the periphery of Hughes' thinking. Ched Evans, who has reportedly attracted interest from Stoke City and newly promoted trio Wolves, Birmingham and Burnley, is amongst a host of players believed to be braced for an Eastlands exit. Hughes is willing to trim his squad but is loath to do so until he has already installed in their place a raft of new signings. "What we intend to do this summer is add real quality to the first team and some depth that will make the squad better as a whole. I certainly will not be letting players go until I am satisfied we have the right depth and the right quality," he told the Manchester Evening News. City will attempt to lure some of the world's biggest names to Manchester and Hughes concedes the club will be aggressive in their attempts to bring in top quality additions. "We are looking to bring in quality at the top end. It is difficult to put a number on how many players might come in during the summer because we don't know yet who exactly will be available and who we will be able to bring to the club but we are in the market for quality and I have every expectation that I will be bringing good players to the club. "We are looking to be positive in the market from the moment it opens."
